History

Farnham RDA Group (originally called Old Park Farnham) was started in the early 1960s by a few local ladies who felt the experience of horse riding would benefit children with special needs.  In other parts of the country similar like-minded people were doing the same and in 1969 the National Association was founded.

There are now more than 500 Groups throughout the UK with over 25,000 children and adults enjoying the benefits of riding, vaulting or carriage driving.  This is made possible by the involvement of 18,000 volunteers.

Each Group is a charity in its own right – affiliated to RDA national but responsible for its own affairs, funding etc.  RDA national gives advice, training and help with Insurance, Health and Safety, Legal and other matters requiring specialist knowledge.
